Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is Doom Catcher?Doom Catcher is a small beacon that creates a "calm zone" around it. When your phone is in range, the Doom Catcher app automatically blocks preselected apps to help you stop doom scrolling and unwind.
-
How do I pair my Doom Catcher with the app?In the Doom Catcher app, tap the + button, then place your Doom Catcher right next to your phone. Keep them close until the device appears in the app and the pairing flow completes. If pairing doesn’t start, make sure the device is powered, move it closer to your phone, and try again.
-
How do I choose which apps are blocked? On the main screen of the Doom Catcher app, tap on your Doom Catcher. From there you can choose which apps should be blocked whenever you’re in that device’s zone. Changes are saved automatically and take effect the next time your phone enters the zone.
-
Can I have multiple Doom Catcher zones?Yes. You can set up multiple Doom Catcher devices (for example, bedroom, desk, dining table). Each device creates its own ultra-local zone, and the app will respond automatically when you enter any of them.
-
My apps are not being blocked. What should I check?First confirm that the Doom Catcher device is powered and nearby, Bluetooth is on, and the app has the necessary permissions (including Screen Time / Family Controls on iOS, if applicable). Then make sure the apps you want blocked are selected in the app’s settings.
-
Does Doom Catcher work without an internet connection?Yes. The blocking behavior is designed to work locally between your phone and the Doom Catcher device. Some features, like firmware updates or telemetry upload, may require an internet connection.
-
How long does the Doom Catcher battery last?Doom Catcher is designed to run for about 2 years on a single battery in typical use. To check the battery level, open the app and tap on your Doom Catcher on the main screen. Doom Catcher uses a standard CR2477 coin cell that you can replace when it runs low—just follow the battery replacement instructions included with your device or in the app.
-
What data does Doom Catcher collect? We collect limited device telemetry such as connection status, firmware version, and battery level to keep the system reliable. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
-
How do I report a bug or request a feature?Email support@inteliwear.xyz with a short description, steps to reproduce (if it’s a bug), and your device/OS information. Screenshots and screen recordings can be very helpful.
